Solution to Microsofts Update KB954430 Problem of March 2009

If you have this problem:
The automatic update icon is still in the system tray with the same update ( KB954430 ) after it was installed
and pc was rebooted.

First download the file below

DO NOT click Run - Download this file "msxml4-KB954430-enu.exe" to your desktop

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:
1 - Download file from above link - save to desktop.
2 - Go to your "control panel" , open "Automatic Updates" icon ,
tick the "Turn off automatic updates" box, click apply/ok.
3 - Now run the "msxml4-KB954430-enu.exe" on your desktop carefully following the next instructions.
4 - If you see 3 choices,one being "Remove",click that one.
5 - Click finish when that choice pops up.
6 - DO NOT delete the "msxml4-KB954430-enu.exe",you need it 1 more time.
7 - Reboot at this point - wait till all your stuff loads back up.
8 - Now run the .exe 1 more time - this time you should see 2 choices - click the "install" button.
9 - Click finish when it does its thing.
10 - Reboot again at this time.
11 - Go to your control panel and turn automatic updates back on/apply/ok.
12 - All is fixed now.
13 - You can delete the "msxml4-KB954430-enu.exe" file now.
